Mr Akan Emin is a UK trained Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon based in Scotland, with extensive expertise in benign and malignant colorectal disease, minimally invasive surgery, emergency general surgery and abdominal wall hernia repair.

His clinical practice spans the assessment and treatment of colorectal and general surgical conditions, with specialist focus on haemorrhoidal disease, anal fissures, rectal bleeding, pilonidal disease, perianal pain, abdominal pain and abdominal wall hernias. He offers a range of advanced treatment options including rubber band ligation, Rafaelo radiofrequency treatment, THD and HALO procedures, conventional haemorrhoidectomy, proctoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and Botox injection for chronic anal fissure.

Mr Emin completed his medical training at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in London and later undertook nationally recognised research at the Royal College of Surgeons of England as a National Surgical Research Fellow. He completed Higher Surgical Training in General and Colorectal Surgery in Scotland and was appointed Consultant Surgeon at NHS Forth Valley in 2018.

In addition to his surgical practice, Mr Emin has held senior leadership and educational roles, including Foundation Programme Director, Clinical Director for Surgical Specialties and Associate Medical Director for Urgent and Unscheduled Care at NHS Forth Valley.
