Sometimes called a micro or mini facelift, this procedure targets the mid-section of your face. It uses minimal stitches to lift the sagging skin in this area and result in a more youthful complexion.Â
During the procedure, your surgeon will make 1-2 small incisions in the side of your face to access the sub-dermal tissue and use just 1 stitch to lift and anchor it back to its original position.Â
Before your procedure, you’ll be given either local or general anaesthetic to make sure that any discomfort is minimal.Â
To begin, your surgeon will make a miniscule incision behind one of your ears to access the sub-dermal tissue, which is the layer beneath your skin. They’ll reposition this layer of skin to be higher up on your face before using a single stitch to hold it in place.Â
A one-stitch facelift can take around 20 to 45 minutes to complete.Â
This procedure is popular with those who’d like to target early signs of ageing across the middle of their face. It’s a way to achieve a more youthful look without the invasive nature of a traditional facelift.Â
To be suitable for a one-stitch facelift, you should ideally be between 35 and 50 with some signs of ageing in your mid-face. And as with any cosmetic procedure, you should be generally fit and healthy and a non-smoker.Â
You’ll be advised to take around 1 week off work after your one-stitch facelift, although this depends on how physical your job is.Â
For the first few days, you’ll have some swelling and bruising, as well as some discomfort. You should keep your head elevated and take over-the-counter painkillers to help manage this.Â
It’s best to keep your face out of the sun for the first 2-4 weeks after your procedure, and you should also take care when washing and drying the area.Â
You should be able to see the final results of your procedure within around 6 weeks.Â

You can expect the results of your one-stitch facelift to last around 5 years, although this will depend on the condition of your skin and how well you look after it.Â
While there is no ‘best’ time to have cosmetic surgery, you might find that there is an age where you can get your optimum results. For a one-stitch facelift, this might be when you have early signs of ageing but wouldn’t benefit from a traditional facelift.Â
It’s possible to have other procedures in conjunction with your micro facelift. These might include eyelid surgery, a neck lift, or fat transfer injections. Your surgeon will let you know what’s possible and which procedures may be suitable for you.Â
While a one-stitch facelift targets only the middle area of the face, a traditional facelift can target signs of ageing across the whole face. A traditional facelift is a lot more invasive than a micro one, requiring more incisions and stitches. It also involves a longer recovery period and can be more painful than a one-stitch facelift.Â
A one-stitch facelift restores your mid-face tissue to its original position, so it won’t change your facial expressions, but can leave you looking younger and more refreshed.Â
