Are sagging thighs or excess skin in the area affecting your confidence? A thigh lift, which contours and tightens the thighs, could be the solution for you. It can result in thighs that are firmer, more youthful-looking and overall, more in line with your aesthetic goals.Â
Before your thigh lift surgery general anaesthetic will be administered to you, ensuring that you’re asleep while the surgery takes place.Â
Your surgeon will begin by making a few incisions to remove the excess tissue from your thighs. Where the incisions are located will depend on how your thighs look and where the tissue is being removed from.Â
The excess tissue is removed, and liposuction might also be used depending on how much stubborn fat there is. Once the correct amount of tissue has been eliminated, your surgeon will re-drape the remaining skin over your thighs, tightening it in the process.Â
The whole process of a thigh lift can take up to 3 hours to complete. It’s normal for you to stay with us for 1 night before you go home to recover.Â
It’s common for people to opt for thigh lift surgery for the following reasons:Â
During your consultation with your assigned specialist surgeon, they will assess whether you’re suitable for a thigh lift, or if another procedure would be better for you. To be a suitable candidate for any type of cosmetic surgery, you’ll need to be over 18, generally fit and healthy, and have realistic expectations about what the procedure could do for you.Â
To ensure a smooth recovery and to get the best out of your results, you should take around 2-3 weeks off work. This time off can vary depending on how physical your job is.Â
For the first week or two, you’ll experience some pain and swelling in your thighs. Wearing your provided compression garment and taking suitable pain medication will help to control the discomfort and swelling.Â
It’s vital that you take care to avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting for the first 4-6 weeks post-thigh lift. Going for gentle walks as soon as you’re able to will help with the circulation and swelling in your legs.Â
It might take up to a year to see the final results of your procedures, although this timing is unique to each individual.Â

If you’d like to streamline and contour your thighs, a thigh lift might be right for you. It’s common for liposuction to be used in combination with a thigh lift, as this can further enhance your results. If you just have excess skin that you’d like to remove, it’s likely that your surgeon will perform a thigh lift on its own. A combination of excess skin and stubborn fat is more likely to require both procedures for optimum results.Â
Changes in weight within the 10 pound range can negatively affect your results. Gaining weight can cause the newly-tightened skin to stretch, while losing weight can cause the sagging skin to return.Â
While a thigh lift can reduce the appearance of cellulite and dimpling in the treated area(s), it can’t prevent further cellulite from appearing.Â
The ideal time for you to have thigh lift surgery will depend on several factors. These can include:Â
During your initial consultation with one of our experts, we can help you decide if now is the best time to have a thigh lift, or whether it’s best to have the surgery in the future.Â
